Arrival by Airplane

Heidelberg is a beautiful city located in southwest Germany, and it can be reached by several airports in the region:

1. Frankfurt Airport (FRA): This is the closest international airport to Heidelberg, located about 80 kilometers away. From the airport, you can take a direct train to Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (main train station), which takes about 50 minutes. Trains run regularly throughout the day, and tickets can be purchased at the airport train station or online in advance.
    
2. Stuttgart Airport (STR): This airport is about 120 kilometers away from Heidelberg. To get to Heidelberg from Stuttgart, you can take a train from the airport to Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (main train station), and then transfer to a train to Heidelberg. The journey takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes in total.
    
3. Frankfurt Hahn Airport (HHN): This airport is about 150 kilometers away from Heidelberg. From the airport, you can take a bus to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, and then take a train to Heidelberg. The journey takes about 3 hours in total.
    
4. Baden-Baden Airport (FKB): This airport is about 100 kilometers away from Heidelberg. From the airport, you can take a bus to Baden-Baden Hauptbahnhof, and then take a train to Heidelberg. The journey takes about 2 hours in total.

Arrival by Public Transport

The International Academic Forum (IAF) in Heidelberg is located in the old town area, which is about 2.5 kilometers away from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (main train station). Here are the directions on how to get there:

1. By Tram: Take tram line 5 (towards "Weinheim") from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof. Get off at the stop called "Bismarckplatz". From there, it's a short walk of about 20 minutes to the IAF. Walk along the street called "Hauptstrasse", which is the main shopping street in Heidelberg. The IAF will be on your right-hand side.
    
2. By Bus: Take bus line 31 (towards "Emmertsgrund") or line 32 (towards "Boxberg") from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof. Get off at the stop called "Universitätsplatz". From there, it's a short walk of about 5-10 minutes to the IAF. Walk along the street called "Hauptstraße".The IAF will be on your right-hand side.

Alternatively, you can also take a taxi from the main train station to the IAF, which takes about 10-15 minutes.
